Leadership: The Quiet Power of Believing in Tiny Movements

Leaders and Dreamers

Dear Leaders and Dreamers,

This morning, I watched an ant navigate a sidewalk crack. It reminded me of how leadership often feels. We are the ants, and the cracks are those seemingly insurmountable obstacles we encounter daily. Yet, the ant doesn’t hesitate or turn back. It finds a way. It’s in these small, persistent movements that true leadership is born.

Remember the first time you led something? Maybe it was orchestrating an elaborate game of make-believe or perhaps convincing your friends to build a fort. You didn't have a manual, but you had a vision. That’s the essence of leadership: a quiet belief in the possibility of the impossible.

Sometimes, leadership feels like whispering into the void, hoping someone hears you. Other times, it’s like screaming at the top of your lungs in an empty room. But every so often, it’s finding a handwritten note under your pillow that says, "I believe in you." Those notes are precious; they are the fuel that keeps us moving forward.

In a world obsessed with grand gestures and loud proclamations, leadership often happens in the spaces between. It’s in the small, intentional acts of kindness, in the moments when you choose to listen rather than speak, and in the courage to be vulnerable when it’s easier to be strong.

So, as you go about your day, take a moment to acknowledge the ant inside you. Embrace the cracks in your path, and remember that each tiny movement is a testament to your quiet power.

Thanks for joining me on this journey. I hope we can continue together and enjoy many more lessons together.

Take Away: Sometimes leadership is about leading yourself back to that place where you first believed anything was possible. Find that place. Visit often.
